A recently published Victorian Parliament inquiry into eco system decline, mentions urban forests and mature canopy trees as being important factors to prevent further decline. Finding 12, says "That ths ecosystem decline is already having devastating impacts on flora and fauna".
Maroondah cannot afford to keep allowing permits for mature tree removal without adding to further ecosystem decline.
Croydon Conservation Society is opposed to the removal of the mature canopy trees at the front of this property. They are integral to streetscape and overall canopy of our municipality, which has already lost percentage around 5% making us under the preferred 30% cover that is reqquired to prevent an increase of heat and other weather effects, and habitat loss both of which are impacting us already.
