I am a local resident and this application sounds great — I am all for mixed-use buildings as they bring so much vibrancy to an area. However, I am deeply concerned about the line "Partial demolition of State Heritage Place". The King's Head Hotel as it stands has frontages on 3 streets, and its heritage nature is part of what gives the area its unique character. I would not like to see any of the frontages on King William Street or Sturt street changed or demolished and will be opposing this application should the application propose to alter them. Does a State Heritage listing mean nothing?

What a travesty it would be to lose yet another hotel to be buried under apartments. Despite any assurances or efforts a thriving pub has never survived such a development and will not in this case. As the publican of 12 years at this hotel to see it lose it's potential to remain part of the hospitality and music landscape in SA is simply sad. Heritage listing should mean something, it's not just window dressing and which ever way you dress it up this is an attack on the fabric of an historic hotel.
I too am a local resident Bailey and agree with what you said. It appears that the old will be at the front and the new at the back so I will be very interested to see the plans as to how this building will look.
Partial demolition of the Kings Head. I hate the sound of that. Thats what they said would happen to the glenelg cinema yet nothing remains of it at all. Not even the frontage.
Please save this beautiful hotel. Heritage listing should mean something.
Development is fine but the feel, character and main pub must stay. A sympathetic linked addition may work but the frontages on both streets and heritage building must remain. Would want to see plans before agreeing to this

What is the point of placing this building here? Plenty of underused and neglected land and buildings in the CBD to place the construction, No need to knock out heritage to do so. Find another site.
