This is a bad idea the traffic congestion at peak hours is terrible. Cars are already having issues exiting Kelly St.
Learn from the congestion mistakes of cars trying to get out of the other day care centre on the other side of train station and primary school.

Totally agree with P Gregory - traffic congestion in Main Street Narangba is chronic. MBRC seem to keep approving residential developments in the area without any thought as to the consequences it has on infrastructure such as roads. I have lived here since 1985 and apart from a couple of extra small slip lanes, and lights at the railway crossing, nothing has been done to improve the capacity of roads within the town area. In fact, traffic flow before the lights (or when they are not operating) was/is much better.
I’m not objecting to a Child Care Centre in that are, but we need better traffic infrastructure before choking the roads up more. MBRC do not even appear to be playing catch-up in regard to traffic in this area, let alone thinking ahead. They seem to be too busy rubber stamping more developments for dollars.
We have lived here since August, at peak traffic times Main Street is a nightmare, adding another childcare centre near Kelly St is only going to compound the traffic issue. You’ll have traffic trying to turn in and out the centre, traffic trying to turn in and out of Keely St and traffic trying to turn in and out of carpark for the train station. And let’s not forget, the normal traffic travelling through Narangba Village from Oakey Flat road and Narangba Road.
I cannot see how a day care centre would bother traffic flow ...it's not a school & there's one of those on the other side of the railway line! The number of cars going in or out at any one time will be minimal & it's up to them to fit in with traffic flow.
Green light from me ...
I have no objection to the child care centre but with the traffic from the train station, shopping centre, units, school and established day care centre, plus traffic trying to turn on to Main Street from Mumford Road and Kelly Street this section of road during peak hours is horrendous.
Council needs to upgrade the infrastructure in this area so traffic flows better and pedestrians can cross safely.
I understand the concerns for traffic flow however I believe the bigger problem is the risk of an accident with someone trying to turn right out of the proposed child care centre during peak times. The next worse problem will be people travelling south on Main St turning into the child care centre, there is no overtaking lane so everyone will be queuing up behind 1 car trying to turn right to enter the child care centre. Sure the development will still go ahead but don't be surprised when these things happen and drive carefully in this area.
I have no objection to the proposed childcare centre. The issue I have is traffic. Please come and observe the traffic in Main and surrounding Streets between 6.30 to 9.30am and 2.30 to 6.30pm daily. The infrastructure can not cope as traffic is already horrendous. According to the plan there will be a left hand exit and entry only into the centre. This will push so much additional traffic onto Kelly, Thomas, Mumford and Main Streets as people heading south will have to go around the block to enter the childcare centre (no right hand turn from Main St) than go around the block again to continue south when exiting (no right hand turn when leaving childcare centre). Overflow train parking down Kelly and Thomas St blocks visibility adding to this problem. This area is not safe for pedestrian especially children walking to school.
Traffic is already horrible trying to get out of Kelly Street onto main street during the mornings/afternoons. This will only add to the problem.
As many have commented the traffic in the area especially early morning and school pick up time on Main st is very bad. Based on the fact you will have parents and smaller children being dropped off it could turn out to be fatal. I know there will be a carpark however if there is insufficient parking people will park in the streets and there is no crossing at this point. You will have people trying to turn right to head to Brisbane and make a bigger bottleneck with those going to the shops. It is very concerning. Please council go and have a look and see what we mean not just make a decision from your desk.
Main Street is is a busy and important hub to locals and commuters. Peak traffic morning and afternoon is concerning already, and if services are continually added without upgrading traffic infrastructure, it will very soon become more than frustrating, it will become a fatality black spot.
The train line crossing is necessary, but potentially hazardous with traffic lined up, commuters & school kids running late .. there is potential for serious incidents. Adding more services and business around this area without upgrading traffic and parking infrastructure will unfortunately end in a tragedy.
