so, this got DA approval the second time it was applied for, for a boarding house with manager, despite much opposition to it, then the illegal work gets done much later, and then subsequently they apply for a building certificate for work nothing like the DA.
How in hell did this get done?. Surely a serious fine of tens of thousands of dollars for breaching building permits, and not approving this, until the actual work that the DA was granted for is built, should be the course of action, or will council just let this go through with no consequence to the illegal work carried out?

What has been done here is far superior to the proposed and approved boarding house as it effectively restores the original Dolls Hospital albeit for a different use. One hopes the Boarding House NEVER gets built. HOWEVER, the legal process should have been followed and those that simply take it upon themselves to build and do what they want, regardless of the law, should be held accountable and suffer a penalty. This is what would be expected by the community. Unusually, and in this case, the current end product is very pleasing indeed. Let’s hope it is permanent.
