Hi,

I do not believe that it is reasonable for the Eternity Playhouse to extend their hours and usage of what is a public footpath. The area is a council development, specifically for the community, that is being utilised and profited off by a private enterprise. The extension of the hours severely limits it's usage within daylight hours for the public, as well as creating difficulties for pedestrian flow past.

The public space developed by Council in front of the playhouse is fit for purpose. A place where the neighbourhood can meet, enjoy the sun and find peace. On an average day is serves the elderly, people with limited mobility, dog walkers and families with young children.

Is this really the area to serve more alcohol, the obvious next step would be to also extent their liquor license? Darlinghurst has an amazing range of options through establishments specialising in this industry. The Eternity Playhouse should keep to their lane and focus on proving the community with innovative performances that make us laugh, cry and wonder. I am sure that this quick grab for more profit at the expense of the community was not part of the original plan.

The extension of trading hours would have an immediate negative impact but for the sake of clarity:

increased noise pollution;
restricted access to existing bench seating;
shift from community and rate payer focus to business interests;
and obstruction to pedestrian throughway;
