Please do not approve this plan to open a wine bar under a block of apartments. It’s already bad enough hearing the drunks along Greville Street screaming nonstop. Bringing a bar to Chatham Street will result in more noise from patrons, wine bottles crashing in the bins after the bar closes, as well as taxis and ubers beeping their horns in the street.
While I absolutely love wine bars, I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect residents to put up with even more noise. The council need to seriously consider implementing earlier closing times and noise restrictions for bars in residential areas, like they do in places like Albert Park and Richmond.
