There are still many large blocks of land on and around the Gold Coast where new developments won't jut up against smaller walk ups, monopolizing sunlight. There are 3 applications near here where small blocks of land would be turned into high rises if approved. High rises should have the space of the building base between them and adjoining residences. This block is not large enough to preserve quality of life for nearby residents

GCCC are restroying the amenity and character of Broadbeach by allowing these large buildings on tiny blocks. Very dissapointing for those who truly love the Gold Coast. I have no issues with tall buildings but they should be built on appropriately sized blocks with roon for green areas.

Please stop it GCCC

I am not against development however the Gold Coast Council is destroying the Gold Coast at an alarming rate by approving relatively tall buildings on small lots. The "plot ratio" (size of building relative to the land it is constructed on) is alarming and extremely distasteful. The shadowing, privacy issues, traffic congestion during and after construction is appalling. The future of the Gold Coast is slowly being destroyed by development greed. People of Broadbeach should take a firmer stance and rally to object to these type of structures on small lots. The small walk ups should remain (don't sell to developers, take a stance). I was told from a Council member that the plot land ratio to approve such large structures on small lots was approved by Mr Tom Tate. I know I won't be voting for you Mr Tate.

This structure is too dense for the size of land. It casts shadows onto neighbouring properties and intrudes on privacy. The setbacks are way to small. The building too dense for the footprint. The traffic congestion during construction (if it's allowed to be approved) would be torrid. Council would have to block off Old Burleigh Road to allow construction, given the construction is so close to a roundabout it would cause residents not being able to access their apartments. The development is ridiculous for the size of the block. Pure greed trying to squeeze such a development on a small block.

Council approved construction at 123 Old Burleigh Road last year (a few blocks up the road from this site). It now sits there like a derelict building with squatters. The developers got the plans approved through council attempting to offload the "DA" to make a profit. However construction companies soon realised the block is too small and the cost of construction have soared and its not economically feasible to build. These views are opinions based on what has happened to other small sites.

There are three towers on small blocks now within a stones throw of each other:
17 Federation Avenue Broadbeach
123 Old Burleigh Road Broadbeach
131 Old Burleigh Road Broadbeach

Dear Mr Tom Tate and Council Members, come to your senses and stop these towers on small blocks being erected. You are destroying the Gold Coast for the future. Towers should be built on a minimum of 1200m2 with substantial set backs not on 500m2, small setbacks with unrestricted heights.

What an absolute joke this building is. It looks ugly, too dense for the block, does not abide by town planing setbacks, privacy issues with neighbours, traffic congestion, does not fulfil parking obligations (where are guests going to park), casts shadows on neighbours. Does not abide to acoustics as set by the town planning act. The air conditioning units are going to keep their neighbours awake all night. This development proposal is a classical example of pure greed by whoever is attempting to develop the block and the lack of insight of the Gold Coast Councillors who may approve it. Wake up to yourselves you are destroying the Gold Coast. Towers should be built on large plots of land, e.g Belle Maison, Capricornia, Le Grande (all in Broadbeach on large blocks) not these towers on narrow, small blocks. Absolutely disgusting.

I wonder if the Minister for Environment would question environmental studies on current GC development practices?
- impact on existing residents
- provision of green space
- contribution to improvement to the area
A 14 storey ugly Bottega development has apparently been approved on a small walk up block at 123 Old Burleigh Rd. Does this mean other developers believe they can get away with loot and run. A ridiculous submission for a 22 floor tower on a small block is just one example of no thought to any of these factors - selfish and greedy and no interest to improving the area.
I am not a cut down tall poppy person. Investors who take the financial risk to build and improve our country I think should be celebrated. Developments that meet the above criteria can improve our GC. Current approvals however are destroying it. It seems council is allowing/enabling

Why is this happening in Broadbeach? Very soon the whole character of Broadbeach will be destroyed. How are these large buildings on small sites being approved? When have the neighbourhood been given the opportunity to object and see adaptations to these ugly developments? I have often contributed to the the GC council planning questionnaires and they talk about the vision for the future but nothing is in that vision that includes large tall buildings squashed together on small sites! The approved strategic plan is obviously being ignored by councillors and council admin planners. This is a disgrace and questionable legally.

Council approves almost all Broadbeach developments saying needed for population growth and near tram . They choose to neglect there is 2 sides of tram line and hwy through Broadbeach and Broadbeach Waters. Share the Load.
