Gum trees are a protected species. The location of this tree is next to a reserve and hence this tree will be used by the wildlife as a corridor.
The information is not clear on the impact from the shade on the solar panels which should have been positioned away from the shade anyway.
I would be more inclined for the owner to reallocate the panels instead of heavily punning a protected species.
The heavily prunning or cutting must be rejected.

When I applied a few months ago to have trees trimmed, I thought I read that it was council policy not to permit pruning for the purpose of increasing exposure of solar panels. This is a difficult policy area, as trees can significantly reduce the ability of residents to access solar energy.
