This monster style 2-level development is NOT acceptable. It's too big and is not matching both the neighborhood's residential zone standards and the character of the properties on the same side of Rothschild St.
This site is very small (about 465m2) and not suitable for such massive 2-level development.
Proposed development has a higher than allowed site occupancy, and is creating a permeability problems. It is also creating other problems for the neighbors' houses due to the very close proximity to the boundaries, such as: overshadowing, obscure of sunlight, overlooking, residential noise, excessive residential lighting, which without any doubts will lead not only to the neighbor's lost of amenity, but will create amenity problems for the proposed development as well.
This development also will increase the level of problems with the storm/rain water, which we already experience within locality, because Rothschild St has no plumbing structure to handle a storm/rain water.
Also, taking into consideration that the new Glen Huntly station entrance will be located around the corner (Etna St), any additional driveways will create a significant disruption of the traffic and that is not safe for the pedestrians (especially considering that we have at least 4 local schools within 1km distance).
Also please note that just a few days ago some mature trees were removed from that site (I believe that those trees were removed exclusively in order to increase the viability of the development application for such a small site), which is absolutely not acceptable, from both environmental and moral viewpoints. That's also not in line with either Glen Eira vision about the trees or with green life approach which is very important in current Covid time, when so many people are almost locked in their homes.
I will formally object this development ask Glen Eira to reject this project application and will be asking other neighbors to do the same.
