Surely you can squeeze more than 39 units on a 900m2 block of land and still leave room for some beautiful greenery for which Kew was renowned.

39 dwellings? On a block that currently has one residence? Boroondara is morphing into a suburb that is simply boxed apartments and units, all in the name of revenue generation. Are we becoming the next satellite suburb, like Box Hill?
It is losing the character and greenery it is reknown for, making a mockery of the meaning of the word Boroondara.
What will this do to the traffic on Burke Road which is already severely congested as it is during peak hour?
It is very, very disappointing to see what is happening to Boroondara.
I oppose this planning application. Surely there must be someone who receives these alerts who has a decent knowledge of urban planning and is a local resident of the area who can spearhead some kind of opposition to the ongoing overdevelopment of the suburbs…?
Since when would a council even consider replacing a single, standalone dwelling with a building containing 39 apartments?! With 75.3% of homes in Victoria housing two people or more, there’s a decent likelihood of there being up to an additional 80 cars also coming to the local streets if there were to be two adults living in each apartment. I’d bet my neighbours cat that there won’t be that many car park spaces built into the plans! Absolute disgrace.
Stop the proposed development at 1257 - 1259 Burke Road & Tregarron Avenue of 39 apartments and 50 car spaces.
I am writing out of concern, for the residents of Tregarron Avenue, who’s right is to continue living in a peaceful enclave, are under threat.
It is unsustainable to expect a small cul-de-sac to cope with 100 extra cars driving in and out. Tregarron Avenue is already at maximum because of its curvature and small size.
The development would add at least 100 new neighbours overnight to a small cul-de-sac which has enjoyed an intimate neighbourly atmosphere for over five decades.
I have an actual concern for residents that live close to the development, who will be forced to leave their cars outside the proposed apartment block.
What provision is given for residents to drive out of their garages without extra cars in their path?
How will current residents of Tregarron Avenue exit into busy Burke Road?
What is the effect of safety on the many children and parents from Deepdene Primary who use the street to drop off and pick up children?
How will the impact of a large development affect the emotional health and wellbeing of the local community?
When will overdevelopment stop in the so called “leafy” suburb of Boroondara?
Way too much over development along Burke rd and I particularly oppose the Tregarron Ave proposed development!! Ridiculous over development of a quiet street and significant impact for Deepdene Primary across the road!! There are already so many rise apartments being built further down Burke Rd towards Stradbroke Park! Corner of Stoke Ave & Burke rd will be next! Too many developments on small blocks. How is this assisting a sustainable community! Why does Boroondara not validate the quality of these apartment blocks? Poor workmanship continues & building codes are way too open ended with very little design involved.
