Objection to Planning application 0658/21

I oppose strongly the application to install lights on the Hawksburn Tennis Club courts for three reasons:
1. RESIDENTIAL STREET PARKING SCARCITY
There is already a major issue about the adequacy of residential street parking in Hawksburn Road. Tennis Club members parking to play at night would make the situation intolerable.
2. IMPACT OF STARK LIGHTING ON MY LIVING SPACE
The harsh lighting of the tennis courts would destroy the intimate and relaxing atmosphere of my living/dining room area, as it has floor to ceiling windows facing in the direction of the tennis courts. It will resemble illumination of a penal compound.
3. UNACCEPTABLE NOCTURNAL NOISE LEVEL
The noise level from the tennis courts is acceptable during the day, but not at night.

I support this resident’s rejection of night time lights planned for tennis courts in Hawksburn. Totally inappropriate for a residential area. In summer, with daylight saving, play can go until quite late anyway.

I echoe the objections raised by fellow residences.

As a property owner and permanent resident in Bunalbo avenue, my concern lies with the existing parking limits and minimal parking for residents (most houses are without off street parking). The players families quite often park in the street and wait in the car way beyond the 2 hour limit.- on a daily basis and on weekends. It is often very difficult to find parking near my home, especially on weekends and in the evening as it is due to the lack of parking permit restrictions. There is also very limited parking in Cromwell Road. The extended hours will likely increase this issue to a point where residents will be unable to park in the street, or close by. The council needs to address the issue and find a resolution to allow for tennis players to park or drop off in an alternative location.
