I categorically state that I oppose the building of the reitrement facility at Clifton Beach to 5 levels. I do not oppose the building of the facility, but must remain at 4 levels, as stated in the Cairns Plan. The locals have fought to retain our beach environment, and the buildings must conform to what is apporpriate to our environment.

I agree with Catherine Morris. The Cairns Plan was drafted in consultation with local residents and its terms agreed. Why have laws and regulations if they will be ignored.

Here we go again,
I was under the impression that the council had already been over the plan for this site, and the 5 levels, was not approved.
Question, ? Was has the Cairns council agreed to this ?

Once again, CRC Planning Dept. accepting development application that do not meet the Cairns Plan requirements. Should have been rejected immediately. The project does not meet code on height. The project does not meet code on site coverage. The project does not meet code on Character. The project does not meet code on visual amenity. The project does not meet code on site coverage. The project does not meet code on setbacks. As to saying it will be a "High End Retirement Facility" - that is just code for 'get around planning constrainsts, then sell the units off at a profit.'

Here we go again.
I absolutely object to the current planning proposal. It does not meet the Cairns Reginal Council plans. As Linda St Quintin states, the proposed building does not meet code on character, site coverage, setbacks, or visual amenities.
It does not fit with the local character of Clifton beach and the requirements for the building MUST remain at 4 stories.

Absolutely agree for no development on this site of more than 4 levels. Agree strongly with all above comments - Linda St Quintin comments supported 100%. Council once again not listening to the rate payers or local community. Shocking…
