Please consider our very strong objection to this application. This property was only purchased in September 2020 after the introduction of the new Noosa Plan effective 31 July 2020. The home has previously been occupied by permanent residents for at least 34 years; and then for a short period of less than 2 years the 2nd owner did some improvements and from observations it was very very occasionally used for short term holiday purposes. This new 3rd owner should have done their due diligence and been aware that the planning scheme provisions had changed in respect to short stay use of residential premises when they purchased in Sept 2020. Caveat emptor!

Since the basic renovations in 2018/19 most of the time it has appeared to be vacant with very limited and intermittent periods when it was clearly occupied by short term holiday tenants.

Wyona Drive is a street full of single residential properties. It is a place of permanent homes where people need a restful nights sleep in order to go to work the next day and not be kept awake by holiday makers making noise to all hours any night of the week. The new owners will not be financially disadvantaged as the property can be permanently let with a more regular stream of income than adhoc holiday lets.

We have first hand experience of short term letting when No 8 Wyona used to be let for holidays and the impact on neighbours was horrible. The owner panicked during Covid and turned it over to long term rental and the difference is incredible. No more do we have to put up with 8 or more cars parked down the street and on the verge, drunken arguments, a dog for every occupant, broken glass and overflowing bins left on the verge for days, partying to all hours. Almost worst of all was the relentless stream of strangers in our street who did not respect the local amenity. Interestingly this property is now on the market again…hopefully to never be used for holiday letting again.

Please, I urge you to not approve 22 Wyona Dr for holiday letting. Let a family rent it so we can continue to have some sense of community in our lovely street.
