I struggle to understand why we allow these developers to come in and build these buildings that affect so many other property owners in the immediate surrounds. These owners have purchased properties based on due diligence at that time. Then years later a developer can come along and build to a height that towers above existing apartment buildings. The number of car parks is a joke! The fact that the tram line is nearby has very limited positive benefit. Most of these unit's would be purchased by investors and then rented out. Data shows that most 2,3 bedroom units have tenants with at least 2 cars. The access onto the Gold Coast Hiway between the existing lights is terrible at present, so I can only imagine it would be 10 times worse. I am sure the developers would have engaged an " Expert" traffic consultant to tell them this would have no impact on traffic flow/congestion etc. As with most of these type of developments these assessments and so called "expert" advice are normally from people who do not live anywhere near the affected area and as such have no clear understanding of the impact. I understand that the council will reap a significant increase in rates due to the number of units, but in a city where this drive to keep developing new high rise apartment complex's is out of control, think of your current rate payers when you are considering this planning application and don't be greedy just because you don't live nearby it!!!
