95-97 Millswyn St, South Yarra, is sited within a City of Melbourne Heritage Overlay. It is a gem of elegantly simple Modernist architecture with many original features. The property is also a much-appreciated part of the Millswyn St streetscape of nineteenth and twentieth century architecture - they're not building them any more! Once one of these buildings is gone, it's gone for ever.
The attrition of good quality, heritage buildings in the City of Melbourne means that our precious heritage is being destroyed by developers who only see an opportunity to raze what's there and build as many units as they can to fill the envelope, calling ot 'complementary' to the surrounding houses. urge the CoM protect this property.
