Overall it seems a reasonable proposal to reducing car spaces and provide growing alternatives. But I question the limited number of motorbike spaces(6) and disabled(6). I assume existing disabled usage has been measured and no justification found to increase the existing number
"There are not currently any motorbike parking spaces within the World Square public
car park and therefore this alternate use provides a strong transport benefit to these users."
Does anyone seriously think only 1% of parking capacity should be set aside for motorbikes, or roughly 1-2 car spaces worth. Again I may be wrong and the capacity has been measured and justified. The alternative is that riders will identify and utilise the wide footpaths surrounding parts of World Square, as they have done outside some buildings in the north of the CBD.
Or here is a thought. If it is good enough for a very large multi-story pub to seek 20 or so outdoor tables on the boulevard created by the newly closed off George St, then why not provision for some motor bike parking on the cross streets(a question for Council to answer not World Square)! Preferably neither!
In short, I believe the car space mix needs to be looked at again, within the parameters set down by Council
