The last thing we need at this location is a Child Care Centre,
The traffic in this surrounding area & suburban streets is already gridlocked every morning & afternoon as a result of previous poor decisions by this Council.
We already have a school at the end of a dead-end street, the same street that Council approved a105 apartment development some years back. The resulting chaos every morning & afternoon is ridiculous, with traffic spewing out into Main St & blocking traffic flow at arguably one of our busiest intersections with a KFC & Maccas on opposite corners.
The parking is absolutely horrendous for residents, often having to park illegally as there is no where to go.
The morning feed onto the Story Bridge is already a nightmare backed back to Ipswich Rd, & as a resident, many mornings it is difficult just to get out of my street.

To add a Child Care Centre & it's associated morning & afternoon traffic into this mix would be unbelievably foolish & irresponsible, as well as even more hazardous for all the young children & parents on the street at these times.

I totally agree with Russell Phillips. I own 450 Main Street, Kangaroo Point and the council have let ARIA'S build 14 story's next to me and yet it is only zoned to go 8 story's. The previous owner had a DA of 8 story's and yet along comes ARIA'S and they are allowed 14 story's. This will cause more congestion along Main Street. ARIA has only put in an Energex pit and that has caused immense congestion and accidents in front of my building. Even on the weekend i had one of their real estate agents park in my driveway where i have 32 cars going in and out of my building. They have put barriers on my side and yet they own 3 blocks. I disagree with a child care centre on any main road. I also own another building on busy Cordelia Street, South Brisbane and the council allowed Edge Early Learning Childcare centre next to me. There is limited parking in front of that building and it is a congestion at the beginning of the very busy Cordelia Street, off Vulture Street. Another hinderance with a child care centre is the NOISE. Those kids scream all day long and the council allowed a zero boundary next to my building. I have short term accommodation there and some business people sleep during the day. Why are these illegal DA's given to the developer who wine and dine and donate to council members? I have been flooded by the zero boundary at 70 Cordelia Street, South Brisbane, the noise is relentless. The council wont get back to me and i have been complaining over 12 months. I also did not get notified of the change in the DA and i am the only owner at 68 Cordelia Street, South Brisbane. I agree with Mr. Phillips as a child care center SHOULD NOT be on a busy main road. It is unsafe for the children, the noise they create and the congestion of the extra cars on Main Street. 25 Shafston Street, Kangaroo Point has only got 25% of that building occupied and there will be another 80 cars coming out of that building when it reaches its capacity. The new building going up besides me at 470 Main Street, Kangaroo point will produce another 200 cars because of the new laws the council created last year that every unit with 2 bedroom and over MUST have 2 carparks. I have been a developer since 2003 and I have never got anything above or beyond what the land was zoned for. Quinton Cottages used top lawyers to oppose Arias building at 470 Main Street and yet it went on deaf ears in council. The River Terrace developer was also allowed extra levels and this will add more than 100 cars once it gets completed. The council should rethink a child care centre on such a busy main road.

The Council planning department, needs a complete overhaul of the planning process with clear and concise rulings which cannot be manipulated by developers. Unfortunately the residences are left to cope with the poor decisions of council, the increased traffic, extra pollution, lack of privacy and the risk to personal safety.
There seems to be no end to the constant traffic jams, noise, overdevelopment in the Kangaroo Point prescient. It is only a matter of time before all suburbs in Brisbane will be affected by these same complaints.
As a society there is an expectation and a need for us to abide by the law of the land, so why are the developers non compliant with the planning laws and continue to get approvals for developments at the determent of the community.

BCC could run a not for profit Childcare Centre out of the park with an entry on Baines St where the carpark is. At least there would be a green buffer zone around the center with less traffic pollution and noise impact to neighbors. I always thought that St Joseph's could use that carpark as an active walk to school drop off point so there aren't a hundred or more cars lined up to enter Anglesey St am & pm.

This suburb is largely made up of student, city workers, pensioners and shared single accommodation, so there are very few babies and toddlers living here.

The current site is unsuitable for the proposed purpose. We do not need more reasons for people to enter Main St, Kangaroo Point at peak traffic times. Where is the parking for drop-off and pick up?

I agree with the above submissions it would unbelievably foolish & irresponsible to approve this plan.

Taking one look at the area and surrounding streets should be enough to tell you that this is not a good area to place a childcare centre. Traffic on Main St at peak hour is already ridiculous. On Anglesey St, just one street over from Burke Lane there is a primary school at the end of a no through road, leading to a pile up of cars every morning and afternoon. Burke Lane itself is tiny, barely a car wide and is not at all suited to be used as an exit. It only leads back out onto Main St which would make the existing traffic even worse. Lockerbie St is not too much better as it leads out onto Main St as well as Leopard St which is difficult to even turn onto at peak hour due to traffic. Add all the previously voiced noise and safety concerns and it's clear that this plan should not go ahead.

The council planning department NEED to send someone to survey this area around the peak hour times of 9am and 3pm. Then you'll see what an absolute NIGHTMARE it is at the intersection of Main St and Anglesey St. It's already quite busy because of the McDonald's and KFC but once you add in the school traffic at these peak times, the surrounding roads become absolutely gridlocked. The traffic's already a mess here because of St. Joseph's at the end of a dead-end street; the plans to add an exit in Burke Lane (ANOTHER dead-end road) will only cause more congestion. The entrance in Lockerbie will only further block up the area since the turn onto Leopard street is almost as bad as Main St during peak hours. This is already a VERY busy area, we don't need this development, it will only escalate the existing problems.
