The proposal is detailed on the enclosed plans prepared by David Harvey & Celia Walters Pty Ltd and involves the refurbishment and upgrade of existing shared housing at 54-56 Gatehouse Street, Parkville. More specifically, the works comprise partial demolition, internal alterations and a significant upgrade of building services to provide 12 self-contained units, a common lobby and common laundry. Each self contained unit contains an ensuite bathroom and kitchen area. Each unit has been carefully designed to meet the requirements of the Department of Human Services minimum standards for Community Housing. The plans illustrate a single bed in each room and on this basis each self contained unit will be occupied by one person, with total site occupancy of 12 residents.
