Regarding DA proposal No:-2021-126.1
My husband and I bought into the Ballina area because of its beauty, and knowing this would be protected by the local members. The decision to buy here was knowing that many of its beautiful mature established trees having such high value for the local bird and animal life life would be protect by Tamara Smith and a council wishing to retain the beauty of the area.
Greens member for Ballina Tamara Smith understands the significance of keeping these green corridors protected.
The DA proposed by the owners of Number 18 , should not be supported as the removal of these beautiful trees will be a criminal act. The bird and animal life are far more important than another mass development in such a beautiful fragile place.
Existing on the property of 18 Pine avenue are Cypress Pine/Australian Hoop otherwise known as the Richmond River Pines theses trees being approximately 13-14 metres tall not to mention the Hoop Pines are some of the very few remaining Trees on the East Ballina ridge.
These trees are very precious as they can grow up to 60 metres tall and live up to (450) years old, they are such a valuable resource for the local animal and bird life.
The developer/ owners:- arborist’s report states that where trees have a high to very high retention value they should be retained at all costs as stated these trees are of high value.
We need not be reminded of the great loss of trees in the area from fire, draught and terrible storms. I app-lore you that we desperately need to protect what tree and bird life we have left.
We do not want to lose what are already dangerously endangered.
The owner of Number 18 should also be aware that his DA does not comply with Ballina councils development control plan as he DA survey shows the land area is approximately 929 square metres,
not the required amount of land for a dwelling of which he is proposing, it should be at minimum 1000 metres requirement council regulation of Ballina councils own control plan. The land size cannot avail the four buildings as drawn on the proposal.
The DA also proposes that the boarders between our property and the proposed property are not the right width and should be re- drawn to make the boarder size legal.
Do the owners also realise that drainage and sewage problems are a regular occurrence, proposing another four (4) more large family homes and all there extra drainage needed for these properties
will definitely exacerbate these issues ten fold.
Please lets leave something for our grandchildren, we don’t have to destroy everything! Regards Julie and Peter Salvisberg
