This iconic Malvern tavern/building will be destroyed with the history and character of the city to give way cheap ugly structures which have replaced the whole Dandenong Road from Windsor to Glenferrie Road in the name of dollar sign. Where is planning departments receiving salaries from the taxpayers' money, they exist for destruction of the best what left from the people who built this beautiful city Melbourne. No one can build even something close to this anymore so how those who allows it can take responsibility to take this history from the future generations.

Planning Minister Wynne is responsible for the "planning" rules which must be followed by both Council and VCAT.

Like many citizens of Melbourne, I worry about the loss of historical buildings with character across our city. Frankly, the Victorian planning rules need to be improved and changed to not only protect our heritage but increase areas for large canopy trees to grow on many development sites. Poor design of dwellings together with poor planning rules seem to be the new norm.

I couldn’t agree more with the above comment. Such a shame that this is happening to our suburb.
