This development is long overdue and has our full support.

Unfortunately, there will be naysayers but the basis upon which they object will most likely be vexatious, frivolous and obfuscatory.

As with a large proportion of development applications, many that will be affected and many that will benefit will be blithely unaware of their opportunity to object or support. In essence, the fact that a number of people will object is legitimate, however, the fact that many will not respond nor support should NOT be considered an objection but rather, tacit approval.

The early residents of the Barden Ridge precinct were presented with this development as a defining characteristic of the area many years ago, along with the school, Menai Marketplace and a range of facilities that have evolved over time. The fact that many of those that bought and/or were here all those years ago and have now moved on should not be overlooked in considering this application. The NIMBY population deserves to be heard, however, their voices should not be allowed to overwhelm the voices of approval and indifference.

The application has considerable merit, it will benefit many and will add to the attractiveness of the locale, notwithstanding he potential to positively impact upon property values.

Supported 1000%.

I think the development will be most beneficial to the local area, especially given the new housing development nearby. My onlyconcern would be that adequate off street parking will be provided. At school drop off and pick up times traffic ( and the behaviour of drivers) concerns me. The safe movement of children through the area is paramount.

Although Barden Ridge needs a shopping complex and has waited for one for many years, I am not happy about woolworths proposal. At their information evening they said that they will build a woolworths metro, dan muprphys and three boutique shops. This sounded good as we could do with a cafe, chemist or dr surgery etc. However upon further private enquiry woolworths state they have revised their initial plan and now only plan to include one boutique shopfront. I believe woolworths will use this space to set up dan murphys and residents will end up only getting a metro and dan murphys. I also feel the design layout provides no visibility from the street which will encourage teens to hang out in the area after hours inevitably leading to issues with vandalism. There seem to be no plans to link the shopping centre to the park next door via a path.

I feel woolworths is simply building a cheap, money making option and giving little consideration to what will actually be of benefit to the community. The fact they have quietly changed plans AFTER the community information session, then lodged the application commenting process on Christmas Eve when most residents will be too busy to take notice or comment, attests to the reasons for my concern.

Fully support the development it's long overdue for Barden Ridge. Teens will hang out anywhere that can't be a reason not to build. We need to be our own community not just a dumping ground for the Shires waste (tip) & a reactor. Traffic is everywhere & our traffic is mostly due to out of area students attending the Christian School & visitors to the Church during the day & evenings.

We have waited so long for this to happen. When we first bought our land we were told that a shopping centre similar to Alfords Point and others around the Menai area would be in the foreseen future. This was a major factor in buying land in the Barden Ridge area. We do believe that it would help the community. As far a school time pick ups - just dont go to the shops at that time.

I support the development, and feel it is long overdue. Barden Ridge continues to grow and with this comes the need for easily accessible shops, albeit a small development to service the area. Very disappointed when I read the latest knock back.

I am very disappointed and frustrated by this outcome.

The site has been earmarked for this type of development since the area was first developed - we bought in the early 1990's and it was one of the attractions. Whilst Menai Marketplace will always be the main shopping location, having a small facility close by was always an appealing option.

Disappointing that the majority of the residents in the area have been ignored because they didn't speak up and the minority again succeed because their comments are overwhelmed by the silence of those that are agreeable and supportive.
