The requests for reduction in car parking, should simply not be an option.
Glenhuntly Rd, and residential streets within close vicinity are already overly congested - especially due to the overwhelming number of apartment buildings in the area. Additionally, both Glenhuntly and Hawthorn roads have traffic flow issues due to tram routes. Imposing more traffic (due to apartment/ shop workers looking for car spaces), exacerbates the traffic and parking dilemma in the area.
Residents and existing shop workers are finding it increasingly difficult to find parking

With the amount of development that has happened, in progress and proposed in the immediate vicinity of this site there should be no way in which a reduction in parking should be considered. Especially considering the location must consider child pick up and drop off associated with the school opposite and a busy intersection where two tram routes cross paths.

More like this please, I'm sure these flats will provide a decent home choice for people who will visit local cafes and also use the trams.

In its heyday that bank branch was packed with bank customers, all driving no doubt to the branch to deposit their pennies. They all found a park. Westpac, ANZ National and now CBA have all abandoned ol' Camden in favour of Elsternwick and none of them offer car parking
.
There are no longer any bank branches locally, the local grocery store is a disgrace, we've lost the fruitshops and butchers. The strip needs people and the residents will provide that additional vitality.

The street needs more people not less. I strongly encourage the council to ignore the NIMBYs and help get rid of that eyesore.

Alan.
Back in the day "they found a car park" cos the population wasn't at the high level it's at now.
No-one argues for NO development. But council needs to ensure that regulations are adhered to.. There's a reason why developments need to provide on-site parking just like single dwellings do. To keep resident's cars off the street and allow ample parking for shoppers. Read the Glen Eira Parking report 2020.. It addresses the current problems arising from "spill-over" due to apartments not providing ample car parking...

The development is inconsistent with the intent and objectives of Clause 22.01 (Heritage Policy) and Clause 43.01 (Heritage Overlay) of the Glen Eira Planning Scheme. The development would adversely affect the significance, character and appearance of the heritage place, as
1) The development detracts from the individual heritage significance of the existing heritage buildings as it is inconstant with the design and features of the surrounding properties within the environs heritage precinct.
2) The development does not respect the heritage significance or the character of the area as the works would be visually intrusive, unsympathetic to adjoining and surrounding properties and, additionally, would further reduce the already limited availability of street parking.
