There should be no reduction in either car parking available not in loading bay facilities. It is simply not good enough to develop a property and leave the neighbourhood and surrounds with overcrowding, shortages of parking and traffic congestion. I have no problem with development but not at the cost of visual and community amenity. It is unacceptable to ‘build and run’.Reduce the amount of dwellings and be compliant.

I object to the reduction in car parking requirements, and the waiver of the loading facilities. The property should be designed with the required car parks and loading facilities so as not to block the street with vehicles loading/unloading and also crowd the surrounding streets with residents' cars.
This proposed development adds yet another apartment block which plans for too many tiny apartments squashed into a building which will fill its very small plot of land. There is no street frontage as the land is tucked away in a narrow cobbled lane way. Therefore, the plan to waive parking and loading bays will certainly add to car parking overcrowding on the neighbouring streets. With COVID-19 now in our lives, I am horrified that approvals for these types of overcrowded living is still proceeding. The height of the building is not in keeping with neighbouring buildings. Greed!
This building will add to the already overcrowded parking in the adjacent area. How this gets through council is unacceptable. The proposed height of 9 storeys will block city views and de-value adjacent properties which people have paid good money to own. Council needs to look into this and either fix the parking issues or amend the proposed building to a lower height.
This will completely shadow the homes already on Newburgh (which already miss out on a lot of morning sun thanks to the apartment complex at the end of the lane) as well as add to the parking problem nearby. The fact this was approved for 9 stories shows Boroondara doesn't care about it's residents. Please don't cheapen Hawthorn with yet another apartment complex
The development at 10 newburgh Place is wrong in so may ways.
The structure itself is made from prefabricated concrete panels with prefabricated heavy metal verandah railings. The right hand side of the North or station facing facade is filled in with prefabricated glass blick panels. The same on the South facade but on the left. Both sides of the building are covered completely with large prefabricated concrete panels with no windows or other openings. The overall picture is an eyesore, not unlike a highrise toilet block.
The building is currently 9 stories high but is still under construction. As a result it towers over the Aurburn Station building which is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. It is a blight on the station whether viewed from across the road on Victoria Avenue or from anywhere on Station Street and even from across the nearby sporting oval. It even rises above the charming heritage two storey shopfronts on Aurburn Rd.
The building totally blocks access to sun and direct light to all of the houses and rear of shops behind.
I find it staggering that such a project was approved even after being taken to VCAT.
