There should be no reduction in car parparking requirements. The Plaza carpark is all ready almost full and the proposal for the multistorey building on top of Kmart also wants a reduction. As a result of Coverd hardly anyone uses public transport and this will be the case for a long time. They therefore will have cars adding to further congestion and competition for car spaces at the Plaza.
The area around the Plaza is now too densely developed with many multistorey developments. The Councils limit was supposed to be 4 stories but that is a joke as none of them or the proposed developemnts are 4 stories.

There should be no reduction in car parking. The notion that single people don't have cars and their visitors don't have cars, is a fallacy. Over and over again councils keep permitting car parking reductions and then have to deal with street parking congestion. The problem is created by developers who are too easily let off. As a new development in a Covid world, the developer should provide full parking, visitor parking, and bike racks. If they can't meet the minimum requirements then they should replan their development.

The Developer of the property at 1A Separation Street Northcote is Overtax Pty Ltd of 11 Bayview Street Northcote. Company Secretary is Andreas Mylonas, who obtained Council Planning Permit approval , Permit # D/908/2012 on 25 November 2013. The granting of the Planning Permit was a Committee Decision by Cr T MCCARTHY and Cr J WILLIAMS. Arising from local community awareness to Council, Darebin Council has contacted the Developer on at least two (2) occasions since July 2017 of his requirement to comply with the Planning Permit conditions, more particularly the illegal use of private property to facilitate development of the parcel of land whilst ignoring the legal access point to the property, a 4.5 meter carriageway of the northern side of Separation Street , just east of the North/ Eastern Corner of High and Separation Street Northcote. I have not made a gift to a Councillor or Council employee.
