The problem as I see it is the car access for this property. Malvern Road has huge traffic volumes including trams and Scott Street is very narrow and due the number of flats without parking facilities there are plenty of cars parked all day. From my perspective as I overlook the property is the noise factor and the number of overlooking apartments facing my apartment my only view facing North and my only sun. At the moment the only noise is church on a Sunday and it has not been a problem. I am concerned with the probability of comings and goings day and night noise from the number of people and my privacy which I now have being totally destroyed.

    I am a resident / owner @ 48 Scott grove Glen iris.
In the past 6 years I have lived in this street and the traffic and parking challenges has significantly increased. Due to increased development/ population growth in the area I suspect ?
Scott grove is used as a detour at peak times to get around Burke rd and turning traffic going right at this corner / development site is very busy with delays and traffic queues turning onto Monash freeway.
Try a morning drive in this spot and you will understand my concerns for such a large scale populated development to add.
And parking ? There is a child care school in St Andrews lane which has parents with small children walking to this site. They park on Scott grove right near your development currently.
This section of Malvern rd is so busy with traffic, trams and more development coming around this intersection and with the train station nearby and Glenarm square to be completed.
You must be crazy to think this corner could be safe for a retirement home. With a driveway added to this spot ?
The building is too high for surrounding apartments and we will lose privacy not too mention your residents wont have this also.
Please consider the population and growth already in our neighbourhood. Malvern rd is one lane with a tram!
    Thank you

I object to this development .I live in Glen Iris and so use this route most days - The volume of traffic and noise and parking issues has increased significantly in the past few years because of the number of large new apartment developments on Burke and Malvern roads. Public transport networks are struggling to meet the demand & are dangerously overcrowded especially in peak hour. The roads are becoming increasingly dangerous and particularly hazardous for pedestrians and especially school children because of increased traffic in the area. Local Glen Iris roads have become dangerous rat runs for cars trying to avoid main Toorak & Burke / Malvern road congestion . The area is being completely over developed and losing its amenity and appeal. In this area there are numerous retirement homes already - We don’t need any more with the destruction of our suburbs, loss of green corridors and the attendant traffic issues that go with it .

My concern about this development is around its impact on parking in the area, as well as the potential for damage to nearby homes during construction. Scott Grove, Malvern Road, and Burke Road are all very difficult to park on, and the addition of the nursing home will mean added parking requirements for staff and visitors alike. The digging and construction that will be carried out on site also has an impact in nearby residents who will likely be working from home as a result of the pandemic.
One final thing to consider for the residents themselves is that the Burke/Malvern intersection is extremely dangerous for pedestrians, and would pose a very high risk for the elderly.
