Our objection was never meant to be a personal attack on Paul and Glenda.
Whilst we do appreciate the change to a visually more appropriate colour scheme at No. 4.Dana Avenue we would like to reiterate this street has a village atmosphere, which is highly valued by those currently living in this street.
However, as Dana Avenue is a narrow, unmade road with single story buildings, we feel that the height of the proposed building is still not amiable to the street scape and the neighbouring resident’s properties.
It would be more suitable if the dwelling stayed within the gazetted requirements of the Mornington Peninsula Shire council which would recognise the character of the street and have more regard for the streetscape.
The property values will be affected by a double storey dwelling rising above the surrounding single level dwellings. Currently, the roof height is a visually obtrusive silhouette which appears to be above the existing tree canopy line.
It is important to all the current residents of Dana Avenue to value and maintain the character, existing local coastal vegetation, atmosphere and the streetscape, and not to detract from the real estate value of those properties.
According to verbal communication with local real estate agents Dana Avenue is a converted street due to these valuable assets.
