It appears these trees are those situated inside and outside the Toyota caryard.
These form an important element in the streetscape along the Pacific Highway and soften the impact of the caryard along this highly commercialised section.
If correctly identified, it would appear the removal of these trees is primarily to aid visibility of the car yard's signage and their removal would thus be unjustified.

I agree with David Grover, if this is the reasoning for removing the trees then it would appear to be not in the public interest to allow this to happen.
