I do not want a brothel in Tempe, the one prosposed for 914 Princes Highway Tempe NSW 2044, Marrickville Council, reference DA201100510 is too close to domestic housing, parklands, playground, school, public transport and would be create havoc with traffic especially now IKEA is opening, I feel a brothel in Tempe area which a a family and community suburb would be detrimental to the area and not in keeping with the improvement and development of the area. I call on Marrickville Council to stop this developement.

Tempe is moving toward becoming "the family suburb" with it's parks, schools, communities and now , IKEA. As a resident, I would like to see IKEA attract new businesses to the area but not ones that do not promote the family values this suburb is about.
I strongly oppose this proposal also because this brothel would be in close proximity to residential areas highly populated with young children.

I strongly oppose the application for a brothel (reference DA201100510) at 914 Princes Hwy Tempe 2044. It is right beside residences with young children and the local community has worked hard to create a family friendly area. It is also too close to a childcare centre and the local parks that children play in all the time. Parking is also an issue with already crowded streets from the hotel leaving resident owners no where to park. To have a 24 hour a day brothel located so close to residences is a development that has to be stopped.

I strongly oppose the application DA201100510 for a 24/7 14 working room brothel at 914 Princes Highway Tempe. I live right behind this site on Young Street in my family home. This proposal is not in our public community interest. We are a strong community minded suburb with an emphasis on family living. This proposal is inappropriate for Tempe. It is too close to our home, train stations (Tempe & Wolli) and bus stops where we, our families and children frequent. It is also too close to our schools; Betty Spears Child Care, Tempe Public School, Tempe High School. It is also too close to our pedestrian traffic crossings, walkways, parklands where we, our families and children frequent heavily and use as sporting and recreational areas. This proposed brothel is too big (has too many rooms), open too long (24/7) and does not have enough parking. This proposal will create more traffic and parking problems on our small residential streets where parking is already an issue.
This is a quiet family suburb where people generally go to sleep early and we do not need a business that will operate 24/7. We do not want a business of this nature in our residential area. We do not want a business like this that will possibly bring in drugs and unsavory people to our residential neighbourhood. I have lived near brothels before when I lived in Surry Hills and Darlinghurst and my friends and I were often propositioned by clients of these businesses as we/they walked by. I do not want for this to happen to me, my friends or my family where I live in my family home. This is why I moved to Tempe which is known to be a quiet family suburb with parklands - this is not a seedy nightlife area. There are enough brothels already in close proximity eg Rockdale, Marrickville etc. We do not want Tempe to be known for it's large 24/7 brothel on the highway. If this proposal goes ahead it will negatively affect our property prices in a big way and reduce the overall real estate value of Tempe as a suburb. There are too many reasons why this proposal should not go ahead from traffic, parking, family values, lifestyle to property values concerns. This is not suitable for this site or Tempe. This is our home.

We already have two public houses in the immediate vicinity, the bus station, a mosque plus the new IKEA all of which add to the traffic congestion. There are too many reasons why this proposal should not go ahead from traffic, parking, family values, lifestyle to property value concerns.
This is not a suitable site for a brothel and Tempe is not a suitable suburb.

RE DA201100510 at 914 Princes Highway Tempe 2044
Traffic and parking congestion already problematic and exacerbated by hotel and newly opened Ikea. Patrons, staff of brothel and taxis/drivers dropping off and collecting them, deliveries, cleaners etc will frequent Station St, Young St, Old St, Holbeach Ave, South St and Bay St. Traffic cannot turn right into Bay St from South direction and Bay St has a very sharp corner when turning left into it from north direction so most traffic turns at Holbeach Ave where traffic lights are. If traffic turns into Holbeach Ave to access brothel they will then turn left onto South St and left into Bay St. Alternatively traffic will turn left into Station St and right into Young St/Old St/South St and then right into Bay St to access brothel – these are all quiet tiny residential streets with little parking or driving/passing space.
The proposed site is large - 15 rooms with not enough parking.
There are already very little street parking spaces in the area and lots of traffic congestion with most residents having to park up on the curb to not block off our tiny streets. Bay St has virtually no parking spots barely enough for residents. Proposed brothel entrance and parking is on Bay St which is a tiny street more like a laneway. This site is totally unsuitable for the constant traffic and nature of a 24/7 brothel.

24/7 brothel will disrupt the quietude of this quiet mostly family neighbourhood. Our neighbourhood streets are very quiet after dark except for noise and traffic from Harp/Valve Hotel events but they are not 24/7.
No other 24/7 business operating in area.

Too many children and families nearby (& within 200m) –
*Tempe Reserve Park, Holbeach Ave & South St Tempe
    – lots of children, women, families utilise for sport, recreational activities
*Sporting facilities – Robyn Webster Sporting Centre access Holbeach Ave
*Cooks River jetty, foreshore and parklands on Holbeach Ave
    – lots of children, families, women, joggers, cyclists, dog walkers utilise for exercise, sport, training, recreational, family and community events and religious festivals
*Holbeach Ave & Princes Highway traffic lights/pedestrian crossings
*Transport: Tempe Train Station, Bus Depot & stops on Princes Highway
    * Brothel site and entrance/parking on Bay St is situated in a mostly residential area too close to the 15 homes directly near it on Young St & Bay St – most of these homes are family homes with children and will negatively impact on this immediate and surrounding Tempe area which is a residential enclave.
This is our home & we do not want a 24/7 brothel in it.

    To close to:
    Day care/Schools:
Betty Spears Child Care Centre, 1 Gannon St Tempe (within 200m)
Tempe Public School, Tempe High School
    Place of worship:
Al-Hijrah Mosque, 45 Station St Tempe (within 200m)

Property Values will fall & be negatively impacted and your house value will decrease as well as the value of Tempe overall as a suburb.

Risk of safety and crime problems including drugs increasing in the area.

This is a family area and a business of this nature is not in our community interest. This site is totally unsuitable for a 24/7 brothel and does not ‘fit’ our local community which is a quiet residential family area.
