Given that a new high school is due to open only 260m away from the site in question, and that another application was made to council recently to expand another existing brothel nearby at 308-310 Cleveland Street, I do not believe it is appropriate to be expanding such businesses in the area. The new inner city high school on the corner of Chalmers and Cleveland Streets will have a capacity of 1200 students, many of whom will be using the public transport corridor that is Cleveland Street. Bus stops are in very close proximity to both the above addresses, which operate during school hours. Students from other high schools in the area also use these bus stops. It is therefore inappropriate for further proliferation of brothels/sex service providers situated so close to a large high school.
