This is going to change the aesthetics of our street. Kareela Road now has 3 of the ugliest houses I have seen in recent years. 13 Kareela looks like a Masonic lodge, 21 Kareela looks like something out of 101 Dalmatians & 23 Kareela looks like a block of flats. As well 13 Davies Street which is just bad taste. The colour of the bricks clash with the roof tiles and the paint on the pillars exacerbates the poor brick laying. I moved to Macartney Avenue 19 years ago and loved the look of the street. It was a pity that the original house at 21 Macartney Avenue had to be demolished, but it was going to be too expensive to save. However 6 Macartney was renovated only a few years ago. Surely if the owners want a larger house, they can build upwards as has been done with 1, 17 & 19 Macartney Avenue. The foundations are solid & the extension at the side of the house can be demolished for a double garage which can be built on top of too.
