This development is a concern to myself and my family on many levels, we live next door and already have great difficulty getting into and out of our driveway with the limited vision due to the shape of the intersection and also the amount of cars that park on the street, with the addition of another driveway next to ours and the possibility of 6 cars entering and exiting it leaving and returning to our house will become almost impossible.
The size of the block does not allow for any of the units to have courtyards or gardens, shared of separate and the architect has drawn decks and rooftop decks as outdoor living which highly increase the amount of windows and people able to look into our yard and that of our two neighbors, not to mention the noise travel that will happen when these living spaces are higher up. The trees in the design drawings will take years to reach the height and therefore produce no privacy to any of us, if they do in fact get planted and grow to maturity.
Lastly, the proposed units do no meet the Shire of Yarra Ranges recommendations in keeping with the surrounding house style, the existing house was built in the late 1800’s and so was the house next door and a few of the houses on Wilson’s lane. All of these house have pitched roofs, as do the majority of houses in the street with the exception of 1 or 2 which have raked roofs, the style of the units does not suit or look like anything built in the street and is a stark contrast to the homes closest to it.
