Dear Parramatta Council,
In the process of determining this application, please consider that 161A Pennant Hills Road is the Lend Lease Homes 'Regal' Demonstration home constructed for the village opening in October 1961. It is one of the earliest homes to have been constructed in the Kingsdene Estate. Next door (to the north) still stand both the 'Golden Key' demonstration home and the 'Beachcomber' demonstration home. Across the road at 161 Pennant Hills Road still stands the 'Pan Pacific' demonstration home. This means that four out of the five demonstration homes opened there in October 1961 still exist and are recognisable.
Furthermore, at the opening of the Demonstration Village, which was officiated by Mr A Landa - Minister for housing, and attended by Dick Dusseldorp and architect Nino Sydney, there was a plaque attached to a piece of bush rock unveiled outside 161A Pennant Hills Road signifying the village opening.
On the grounds of heritage, would you please consider the retention of the existing house as part of keeping the Demonstration Village as complete as possible. If that is not possible would you please consider an Archival Photographic record of the house or at least to discover and preserve the plaque which was unveiled at the opening ceremony.
I will do my best to supply you with photographic evidence of the credentials of the house at 161A Pennant Hills Road via the standard submission channels.
Yours sincerely
Stephen Batey
Architect
