I would like to formally object to this development. This area is already heavily transited by people walking from Maroubra junction to the housing commission areas behind Coral Sea Park. Due to this there are constant disturbances, fighting and yelling, especially at night. I have had my car damaged several times and my neighbours and had the same as well as theft from my property and theirs. An additional boarding house will only attract more of the same.

Similar and recent proposals at Lexington Place have also been approved...just plead with council to engage social welfare support centres and local law enforcement offices so that they can understand the consequences. housing vulnerable and socially disadvantaged residents in cramped living spaces, and in an area of maroubra where crime and anti social behaviour is already at record high levels, just doesn’t seem right, doesn’t pass the common sense test... there should be greater diversity in housing arrangements and not more of this rubbish. developers win here, everybody else lose

More of these boarding houses will only make living conditions for nearby residents even more stressful, particularly hurting residents in Sth Maroubra area where more of these are popping up. Approving and allowing boarding houses to be built in areas of high crime and social unrest is a very good way of making a bad situation even worse. Thank you council, again, another great decision.

The below DAs have been approved in Maroubra in just the past 2 years, and it’s clear developers are encouraged to build boarding houses areas near Chester Ave and Lexington Plc where their investment return is greatest. When is enough not enough?

3 Chester Ave, Maroubra - 745 sqm land, 33 board rooms, 1 per 23 sqm. *This is a heavily dense public housing area.

756 Anzac Pde, Maroubra - 564 sqm land, 9 board rooms, 1 per 63 sqm.

* 9-11 Lexington Place, Maroubra - 416 sqm, 19 boarding rooms, 1 per 22 sqm. *This is a heavily dense public housing area.

213 Bunnerong Rd Maroubra - 533 sqm, 11 boarding rooms, 1 per 49 sqm.

* 5 Astoria Circuit Maroubra - 455 sqm, 21 boarding rooms, 1 per 22 sqm. *This is a heavily dense public housing area.

I agree with the above objections and to ensure your objection is registered with council you must email it to council@randwick.nsw.gov.au

My objections include:
- Exceeds building height restrictions:
- Will only increase the amount of alcohol and drug related issues in area
- Increase in violence, theft, property damage and abuse expected
- Concerns over safety at night in Coral Sea Park with no lighting
- Only 7 parking spots for 33 units. There is no parking currently available during the weekdays and weekends due to sports
- Further traffic congestion due to the narrow streets
- Increase in noise
- Loss of privacy
