In Portarlington VIC on “Use and Development of a...” at 122-138 Tower Road, Portarlington, VIC:

Ian Whitehead commented

Let's face it, everyone who moved to Portarlington for a quiet life has been made redundant by Council and State Government policy and has become subservient to the interests of the greedy. Despite having a moral obligation to the elderly and less mobile, the Council has chosen to ride roughshod over the interests of the same people who pay their wages in the form of exorbitant rates. The proposal is bloated, more in keeping with Gold Coast architectural extravagance than a simple coastal village. Importantly, the development proposal must, by law, promote walkable neighbourhoods and there is no way this abomination ever can. The increase in traffic will make Portarlington unliveable; the Council has totally ignored parking chaos and has no coherent policy to provide safe passage for pedestrians, therefore it is in no position to approve the proposal.
