Any development that requires the removal of trees must clearly demonstrate that the trees are noxious, hazardous, dead or dangerous. Whilst the arborist's report nominates 2 trees in that category, the developer wants to remove one other that does not fulfill that criteria, as per section 9.1.4 "The proposed development will also necessitate the removal of one (1) tree of moderate retention value, being T6 (London Plane tree). This tree is not considered significant, but is in good health and condition and makes a fair contribution to the amenity of the site and surrounding properties. In order to compensate for loss of amenity resulting from the removal of this tree to accommodate the proposed development, consideration should be given to replacement planting elsewhere within the site with new trees in accordance with Section 11". Any tree of moderate or higher retention value must be retained and the design altered to do so otherwise developers across Sydney will denude this city of all greenery. Enough tree canopy has already been lost. The devastation must stop. This DA must be rejected until all trees of moderate or above retention value are kept.
