In Macquarie Park NSW on “Approval is sought for a...” at 122 Herring Rd Macquarie Park NSW 2113:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I write in connection with the DA application of 122 Herring Road, Macquarie Park. I have closely examined the plans and I know the site quite well. I strongly object to the development of these buildings in this location.

My objection to the current plan is raised because the current plan proses a major construction with only 6-12 meters next to an existing 24-floor building!

As residents of 120 Herring road, we cannot be assured that this level of construction will not impact the fundamental existing high rise and narrow building structure! The buildings are too close together! We do not wish our home become the 2nd MASCOT TOWER!

Whilst engineers and town planners can provide reassurance on paper, as we’ve seen repeated in the past year, the reality of construction may be very different. This means substantial risk to the existing building and its’ residents!

Additionally, we can not ignore the highly potential risk in the building process itself. There have been a couple of reports about crane collapses in Sydney, and we cannot prevent or be certain that this may not happen on this site, as there is a proposed 14-floor building between an existing 13-floor building and an existing 24-floor building.

We request that the plans are modified, and the construction will be moved further apart from the current buildings for safety reasons! The plan can be moved, and the area reallocated!

We also note that the newly proposed road plan consists of only a no through road, which means Herring Road is the only exit for hundreds of cars and thousands of residents. The evacuation will be a major issue in the future as well as just morning rush hours. Just look at Saunders Cl, which is always overcrowded with cars, even in the weekend.

We request that the plan consider the existing, and the existing large, and new community be considered in this plan! Please space the buildings apart! Every meter counts! For risk! For sunlight! For wind draft! For not being boxed in! Please plan for more space, even if the amount of construction needs to reduce!

We are here for better life, not being forced to leave one day and struggle finding a couch to stay like the residents in MASCOT.

Yours faithfully,

Taotao Luo
