In Artarmon NSW on “Demolition of existing...” at 30 Muttama Road Artarmon NSW 2064.:

This house is a part of the Artarmon Conservation Zone and given it is architecturally consistent with the wider area the application to demolish it should not be approved. The nature of the zone is to protect a collective suburb of houses that share the same age, look and period features both inside and out. The buyers of the house would have been aware that the Zone existed and that any future renovation work would be required to meet the heritage guidelines.

As a resident that has extensively renovated their house (DA 2011/206) I am amazed that the council would even consider this application. We were required to ensure that all significant features of the house were maintained and restored and any new addition was to be completed within the envelope of the old building and not be visible from the front of the house.

To consider a full knockdown and rebuild is beyond staggering. I'm hoping that the Willoughby Council heritage Architect Elizabeth Fink will cast this application aside due to the following issues;
1. Non-compliance with Clause 18 of Willoughby Local Environmental Plan 1995(WLEP 1995).
2. Non-compliance with Willoughby LEP 2011 (DWLEP 2011).
3. Non-compliance with Willoughby Development Control Plan (WDCP) - Part H – Heritage and Conservation
