The Proposal to build a new TeaHouse to replace the exisitng Teahouse at the Caroline Bay reserve will require 5050 square metres to be taken from the reserve. The reserve is currenly used for public recreatiion 550square metres represents a large part of the small Reserve,
The reserve is popular and heaverly used by local school, families, and as and "off leash" areas for dogs. The smaller reserve means incresed congestion for users.
The existing Teahouse is described in the "Council's Garden Guide" as being suitable for traditional Japanese ceromonies
The exisitng TeaHouse could be modified or replaced on its present site and within the existing boundaries.
The propsed new Teahouse will be commercial. Those partaking in the Tea Ceremony will be charged and when used for wedding or functions will be charged.
Parking is already a problem in the area and will get worse. The population of Gosford and east Gosford is growing more open and public recreation areas are needed. this proposal will reduce the area for public open space recreation .There has been little public consultation for the proposal.
