Not happy about 3 dwellings being erected on this block. This is a very attractive home and doesn't really need, from outside appearances anyway, to be demolished. Would really love to see the plans of what is to be built on this block. The house has been left neglected for too long and there was a fire in the front garden which had to be put out by the fire brigade and neighbours yesterday. Once again, no-one at the Marion Council seem to care about its existing rate payers. This once pleasant and peaceful neighbourhood is no more. Very sad.

To all the residents reading these planning alerts specifically relating to these excessive subdivisions happening in our area. Comments seem to always be directed at the Marion Council & are they have no effect because nearly all of the approvals for this type of development bypass Council & are granted approval by the State Government planning department.
We need to voice are concerns to our local State MP's

Ferna Harris totally agree with all your comments. and Peter Simms surely it is up to the council to communicate on our behalf.
Also the removal of trees. I have complained to the council about this problem. Our street , Struan Ave, is becoming so hot because of the overdevelopments and tree removals.

I have a lot to lose due to being on this developments southern boundary and being directly overshadowed. I have been into council planning and planning SA and the decision authority is 100 % in the councils hands, as categorised by planning SA development number 100/D093/18. The council has the plans and authorise or not the design and placement of the three two storey dwellings. They have already much to my dismay gone outside their own side setback minimum required distance of three metres on a southern boundary if a building is 3-6 metres tall. It even requires additional setback equal to any height above six metres but they can’t tell me that at council planning as it would be unethical. I did get out of someone that they have already been allowed to overcome the minimum setback and get an exemption which allows them to have the two storey walls at a 2.7 m setback and carport on the fence. We must be lucky to have a council with such flexible requirements to accomodate these developers.

Sean Houlahan I feel for you. We are in Struan Ave near Addison Rd. They are just completing 7 units on 2 blocks diagonally across the road from us and 2 blocks directly across from us being redeveloped and another 6 townhouses being built there. I am astonished that these 'dog kennels' are allowed to be built. Separate driveways for most of them. Single garages and where are all the bins going to be kept? We have complained about all the rubbish floating down the street. EPA told us to complain to Council. As usual no response. We all feel helpless.

Sorry to hear Sean. It begs the question just who is being "unethical" here! I live in this area too and have had to put up with three two storey townhouses on my western boundary where previously there was one single storey house. Also on my eastern side there will be two two storey homes built where previously there was one single storey home. At least here, we have had a reprieve as the home is being rented by a beautiful girl and she tells us she will be there for another year. Can you imagine what my little house will look like all boxed in.

It makes me so mad. Johanna those 2 storey ones opposite you are an eyesore, ugly as! Yet when the tree got diseased on the strip outside our house Council removed it & told us we couldn’t just plant anything as they had a whole plan for a street scape & yet they are allowing these monstrosities to be built!
We also have solar panels on the side that is going to be overshadowed by the 2 storey & council said that Solar panels don’t matter & don’t come into it, so another impact to us and the environment as well as you mentioned Johanna the parking, bins & noise etc. I feel for you too Ferna sounds awful being boxed in like that. When we bought in 2010 there was none of this scale of development and as far as I’m concerned it’s not adding to the suburb/neighborhood at all just creating stress with people having to live on top of each other in dog boxes, so much for the desired street scape they are wanting. We feel completely helpless and at the mercy of the developers/builders.

Agree with you all. This used to be a pleasant area to live. 3 dwelling on one block is excessive and should not be allowed. Council blame State. State blame council. Neither care as they both get more revenue. Elected Councilor do nothing and our State member Corey Wingard does not bother to respond to raised concerns. Stefan Knoll (Dept of planning and infrastructure) continues to do nothing. Continue to raise your voice. I did not know about this site, nor was notified of the division opposite me and now have to knock on 2 doors just to get a vehicle off of my own property. Why people with 3 cars buy a "dwelling" with 1 car park is a mystery. 12 cars now on a narrow street. Don't let this happen around you.
None of the afore mention elected people care or have taken any action to assist in the issue they have created. Do what you can to stop the continual degradation of this area.
Perhaps we should all go and protest at the next council meeting?

Neil Morris. I really do think it is time we made a real noise. How do we go about it? I challenge the planning authority to come and look at the monstrosities just being completed at 32 - 34 Struan Ave. My question would be "would you allow these eyesores to be built across the road from you"????. 13 units and townhouses where 4 houses used to be. Single garages, no room for garbage bins. 26 bins to be collected every week.
