Inverness and Albion street have enormous traffic and car parking issues.

Day commuters park in Inverness street because there is no time or permit restrictions and local residents are often unable to park because there are no spots and instead have to park blocks away.

Albion street has no parking on the side of the proposed development.

Any development must have visitors spots built into the development otherwise it will exacerbate the local parking issues.

Albion street also has enormous traffic issues and there is an active resident campaign highlighting the poor street design and unsafe road conditions.

Less than 4 months ago a car ran off road and crashed into the proposed development site.

Any development must take into account the difficulty of turning into Albion street and add to the traffic problems and the development approval requires consideration by Council and Vic Roads of upgrading the street safety in order to protect current and future residents.

While I like the physical appearance of this development and think it's size and height is appropriate for the site, I have to agree with the comment above, the reduction in parking requirement is an issue that merits objection.
As a local in relation to this site (Balmoral ave) I have noticed the increase in traffic and the ongoing issues related to parking in our area. Reducing the parking requirement is only going to make this worse. The site in question has a majority of its frontage on Albion (no parking), with (once you account for the driveway) minimal frontage for street parking on Inverness. The addition of 10 units to a street with a number of higher density sites already, is only going to add hardship to existing residents and increase congestion. This overload of parking combined with traffic using Inverness and Balmoral as a shortcut during the evening peak period (often speeding and exceeding the local speed limit) is a direct threat to pedestrian safety, bike users and the quality of life of local residents.

The proposed site for development is close to Brunswick East Primary School, St. Margaret Marys School, Hartnett House Children’s Centre and Brunswick Private Hospital. It is a very crowded thoroughfare and parking is at a premium. I find it difficult to comprehend how their Traffic Impact report conducted over two days in November found about half the traffic spots unoccupied. As a frequent visitor to the area this is not my experience, nor that of any one else that I know. I suggest that council should conduct its own independent Traffic Impact survey. The restriction on the number of provided parking spots is unacceptable and they are rather steep and awkward parking spots that will be difficult to negotiate for larger vehicles. With so many schools and hospitals in this area, this proposal could endanger children and the infirm and should be rejected.

I agree with the above. I’m really happy with the aesthetic of the proposed development as its in keeping with the character of the existing building.

Currently there are three other blocks of units in Inverness St and none of them have visitor parking. We find parking on the street difficult at weekends and at night when there is overspill from Lygon St restaurants or visitors to residents.

Agree with parking issues in the whole Moreland area. There is a lack of permit parking to ensure residents get priority parking. When previously raised (many times) to council, they advised that permit parking will affect local businesses. I think the popularity of Brunswick and cope with permit parking. Visitors can come via public transport since that is the reason we've been given for why public transport corridors are being developed to the point of suffocation.

Also roof decks is going to cause privacy issues and the reason for it, is to provide the dwellings that extra tiny bit of space since the site of being over developed.
