    Dear City of Canterbury.
Developments can sometimes be necessary to modernise/vitalise a community. However, it needs to be in accordance to fit with the area and amenities.
The site is not suitable as the immediate area is purely residential (houses and units). The increase of "boarders" would introduce a kind of tenancy which is not family friendly. ie; A boarding house of middle aged men occupying ALL 14 rooms. This poses strong community and amenity concerns. There is no guarantee this will not happen!
In addition, the immediate traffic of 14 boarders and vehicles at an intersection causing congestion, hazards at a 3 way intersection and parking. Let alone fiends that choose to visit, hence overtaking any present street parking.
The site is inappropriate for such a development as it does NOT fit into the immediate dwellings and nature of the communities that occupy the area.
Please consider the impact of such boardings in existing locations as a they are not located in the middle of family oriented community.
Thank you for reading my concerns.

    Attention Bankstown Canterbury Councillors,
    Oh how quickly we forget.
I have lived in the Canterbury area for over 40 years, when I moved here Canterbury & Bankstown Council had an active policy to eradicate the few boarding houses that existed in their area, ( as did most Councils in Sydney).
They were deemed unsuitable to be in residential areas.
The reason, in case you may have forgotten, the boarding houses attracted "undesirables".
Whilst I am certain that it is now politically incorrect to describe any group of persons in this way, nothing has changed except the views on what is now P.C.
NO ONE wants to live near a boarding house !!!!
Developers love boarding house developments because they are - quick, cheap & flavour of the month with the current State government.
If the Council permits the continued proliferation of this type of development in our area, your Party(s) will be held to account by the residents who live & Vote in this area.

What you call being P.C. I call "not being a jerk". It's wrong to say that people of lower socio-economic status are undesirable and should not live in your area. Who decides which people this applies to exactly? You? Do you base it on race, or religion, or skin colour?

I do agree that our council has a lot to answer for when it comes to development in our area. We lack great community spaces, walk and cycle ways, even a distinctive architectural character or style.

What we lack in infrastructure though, we make up for in the great diversity of people and cultures that make up this wonderful council area.

    Dear City of Canterbury,
Canarys Road is already congested. It has become a parking lot for trucks. We see drivers park their trucks and travel by car to their homes. They are not local residents. The traffic calming measures are a great addition but with buses and trucks as well as parked cars and pedestrian traffic, it is a recipe for disaster.

We have had massive mobile phone towers installed without consultation as they are on government land. The NSW government is in the process of having an ambulance/paramedic centre passed for construction on the corner of Stoddard and Canarys Rd.

We have a new coffee shop Kitchen Zia which has brought a major increase in the need for parking. We have also had other local residents parking in Canarys Rd as they have no parking in Stoddard Street. The coffee shop, however, is not a negative. It looks great and provides a service that many of the local residents use.

It has also been brought an increase in pedestrian traffic which is a positive for the local residents. The City of Canterbury needs to look carefully at this boarding house proposal. It is not in keeping with the existing local dwellings and will further increase local congestion Please reconsider this proposal.
