I notice that there are a substantial number of trees being requested for removal. I feel that Montmorency is losing its trees at an alarming rate. It would be such a shame if this suburb continues to be denuded of its native vegetation. The abundant native flora is a strong marker of Montmorency's distinctive character and must be protected to maintain the suburb's appeal. Please make sure all trees are retained in the development.

I too am extremely concerned about the loss of trees not only in this development. As a 30 plus year resident I have seen many changes to Montmorency but the rate of this degredation of the suburbs bush garden character is tremendously alarming. We've already lost the Bellbirds that used to live here, what next ??

While I understand that this site has been a kinder for some time, I am concerned that a child care centre would increase traffic during peak times on an already busy intersection with three school crossings within a couple of hundred metres. This intersection really should have better traffic control, such as a round about although I suspect there isn't the space for it.

Parking anywhere near the station is already at a premium and both Rattray Road and Mountain View Road are already choked with parked cars. St Faith's Child Care always has at least a dozen cars parked on Mountain View Road.

The impact to vegetation is also really concerning. Montmorency is it's trees. And many of the trees on this site are endemic to the area. The country village atmosphere is why many people live here and the constant impact to our lovely trees is slowly destroying the character of our suburb.

This application proposes that only 4 out of 30 trees on this site will be retained. This will be a huge loss in habitat for wildlife and a huge loss for the character and aesthetic appeal of Montmorency. Retention of trees in planning applications should be paramount and the highest priority to ensure Montmorency retains its unique bush character.

I agree with the statements above pertaining to retention of as much of the existing trees and vegetation as possible.
I have just purchased a home in the area and I think that a child care centre will be a great addition however we want to make sure that the trees and native plants are retained.

There are currently two substantial sized buildings on this site which have been built to accommodate the existing vegetation. Based on the proposed plan, it should not be complicated for the architects to design a centre that uses more of the current footprint of existing buildings as the basis for their new construction. This may negate the need to remove so much existing vegetation.

I think that a childcare centre is needed, but am very concerned about the removal of the trees. Surely the centre would only be enhanced by the shade offered by the existing mature trees, as well as the wildlife that the children would be exposed to by being surrounded by native vegetation. The centre should be planned around the existing trees. Too many trees are being removed and the area is beginning to lose its character.
