Eveleigh Street, Redfern, NSW

Pemulwuy Project - The Aboriginal Housing Company propose to construct a 24-storey student accommodation building within Precinct Three of the Pemulwuy development. The proposal comprises 522 rooms accommodating 596 student beds. It also includes associated public domain works. A Modification Request to the Concept Approval for the Pemulwuy development is being assessed concurrently with this State Significant Development application. The Aboriginal Housing Company does not intend to change Precinct One or Two of the Pemulwuy development and can build these components in accordance with the existing concept and project approvals. You do not have to make a submission on both the State Significant Development application and the Modification Request. The Department will treat a submission on the State Significant Development application or the Modification Request as a submission on both planning applications. If you need assistance with making a submission, or for more information, please call 1300 305 695.

Originally approved as six stories, I read there was a push to make it 16 and now it looks like they are asking for 24 stories.

This is a very tall building.

It will cast a very long shadow both practically and metaphorically on all those involved.

I oppose excessive high rise for any site in Sydney. There is no need for this building to be more than 6 storeys except greed. Sadly it's all to common in Sydney's push for "progress".

I agree with Stephen, 24 stories is a very large structure that will not only be incredibly imposing for the neighbourhood but there isn't enough infrastructure to support that number of people.
The increase cars and traffic in an area already difficult to manouvour through at peak hour. Creates a safety hazard.

    Why such a increase??

How does this fit in with it's environment. Or, is it just an extension of the monstrous towers put in at Redfern. This area has traditionally had a very low rise village feel to it. Sydney needs to hang on to as much of that as possible.

I can't see how it will look anything but contrasting.
Some above are commenting original approved for 6 levels. Push for 16 and now 24. Why did you not apply for 50 stories so you get your 24 stories (a compromise!).
It's like watching the TV show Utopia. The biggest question is why ask for community feedback and continually ignore it.

Aboriginal Housing Company propose to construct a 24-storey what will become an ugly looking eyesore.
6 Level MAX WAS THE ORIGINAL NUMBER.
Why do we endure this constant greed from this Aboriginal Housing Company.
And I do hope City of Sydney have a close look at what has been approved BY THE TOWN PLANNER in the past and see how bad the Chippendale and Redfern areas have been developed. REGENT ST CHIPPENDALE LOOKS Like 3rd world.
