It would be great to have a local gym, but PLEASE can we have a women's only gym so that ladies can exercise without the feeling of being watched or "checked out" by the males that use the gym. It's been extremely offputting and has been the reason many women don't feel confident to use gyms. It's really important for women, as we are prone to osteoperosis, and weight training helps to prevent this. But in mixed gender gyms, women are intimidated by the men. This is something I have personally experienced and have heard a lot about from my friend, who works for a major gym chain. The main reason women cite for quitting their gyms is due to unwanted make attention or intimidation at the gym.

As a young woman under 30, I need to lift weights to prevent my osteopenia developing into osteoporosis but have been put off gyms because their weights sections are full of men. Please give women a seperate gym of their own in Lower Plenty!

    Thank you
