    To Boorondara Planning Authority:
There is an already existing and approved planning permit for a FOUR storey mixed use development on 11-13 Mayston Street. Boorondara Council and Residents in the area went to VCAT where that planning permit was negotiated as a compromise between Council and residents on the one side and the developer on the other. The compromise reduced the development from five stories to four (amongst other things). After two years of no activity, is the developer now proposing to revert to a FIVE storey development under the guise of an extension to the previous planning permit? Hard to know from the posting whether this is the case or whether the word "five" is a leftover from the original application which was subsequently reduced to four storeys. However, if the developer is looking to regain that fifth storey in the process of extending the planning permit, they can expect another trip to VCAT and another battle with local residents. As before, residents will be expecting Council to join with resident interests and hold the line against inappropriate developments immediately adjoining sensitive Neighborhood Residential Zones. Let's not allow old battles to be re-hashed. Waste of time and resource on all sides. Please investigate and clarify whether this application is merely to extend the previous permit UNCHANGED or whether changes to the previous permit are now being requested. It would be appropriate for all participants at the previous VCAT hearing to be informed in writing by Council about the nature of this new application, so we can all be on solid ground in forming our individual and collective responses to it. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration of this matter.

I hope we can follow the progress of this application via planning alerts. I hope this application is not what it seems. We are in real danger of losing our lifestyle and treasured historic precincts to ad hoc demolition. It is truly alarming if this is an added application onto an existing one after appearing at VCAT.
