No thanks to masseaur studio. This causes mishaps to people in that street. Not matching this type. My apology that i cant accept this type of business.

There are already a couple of brothels in this area, I don't think there should be any more, unless Council wants Marrickville to replace the Cross as a red light district.

Is this for remedial massage or a brothel? Does the applicant have to specify the different in the application? I had a look and couldn't see details on the type remedial massage they will be doing. If there is a risk of it being a brothel I object and agree with the others here, there are already a number of brothels in the area and this is a ground floor space which will be easily seen by the families in the area. Marrickville is a suburb with many young families who do not need to be confronted by brothels and this is also very close to the medical center in the same block which will mean exposure to families.

I have no objection to change the use of the existing premises to be a remedial massage shop. Unlike other residents in the area I do not live in mortal fear of sex workers, not that the application says anything about that anyway. I also don't think families living in the area should be concerned about people giving or receiving massages.

I can't honestly believe council would actually consider a sleazy massage parlour in this spot. How disappointing if it is and how disappointing and insulting to all who live above and around it now and in the future. This isn't reading the changing demograph of the area at all. Marrickville 'the new Paddington' what a joke, never gonna happen. If it is a legit remedial massage business then I take it all back. But this planning authority isn't very clear and is asking for this kind of response because of that.

I have no problem with this application, whether it is a massage parlour or a brothel as some are trying to claim I don't have an issue. If it did turn out to be a brothel then I wish the sex workers well and wish they lived in a society that respected their work and safety.

I could do with a massage after all this tension, Overreacting a little and getting your knickers in a knot won't help anything.

  9. Andrea Leong commented

David S Lynn are you suggesting that people in the street will find themselves getting injured to create business for a massage shop in the area?

I really don't think young families will find themselves feeling too "confronted" by shopping near a new, legal business in a commercial area.

Ok not another one. I don't mind a few but this is just getting ridiculous.
