I see this application includes tree removal and I have heard that this means all trees on the property are to be removed. Epping has already had too many trees removed and as a local resident who enjoys living in a leafy suburb I object to this further loss of trees. From the limited information I have been able to access it is unclear on which part of the school property this building is to be built. However, it may represent a further loss of open space in the Town Centre Core for Epping if they are building on the Essex Street side of the property where there are currently sporting courts. These need to be maintained as open areas in an already congested suburb with poor air quality from all the high-rise buildings.
This building also encroaches on the solar access for adjacent properties including the heritage listed Scout Hall in Essex Street and many private home units nearby.
The Greater Sydney Commission Draft District Plans promote keeping green space, open space and promoting sustainable and liveable suburbs (providing feedback on these Draft District Plans ends is March). This development application does nothing to promote a sustainable and liveable suburb. Once again it represents overdevelopment of Epping.
