Such a shame that another house that is perfect for a gorgeous renovation is going to be demolished. I am so tired of seeing this in Malvern. My whole reason moving to Malvern was to live in a house with history after growing up in the outer suburbs. I live in Stanhope Street & it is littered with revolting 'modern' homes that totally lack character & charm. No one wants them 10 or 20 years later but yet these beautiful old 100 year old Edwardians always remain desirable. Please Stonnington STOP the demolition of beautiful old homes. Think about the future generations that WANT to buy a home with real history not one of these cheap new builds. PLEASE!

Surely council can start to take a stand against total demolition of Malvern 's beautiful period homes. It is ironic that a " neighborhood character overlay" allows character homes, such as this one, to be destroyed .They are replaced by modern designs that are causing our neighbourhood to lose not only its character but also the gardens and trees that Malvern was known for.
Development can be well done but many recent examples allowed in Stonnington are poorly designed and have resulted in considerable loss of green space and changed the skyline of this area.
Examples of nearby poor development or demolition of other historic homes include: The corner of High St & Spring Rd, two Victorian homes on Kooyong Rd, around Central Park, and of course the ugly towers on Oorong and Malvern Rd . The latter can be seen from many beautiful surrounding streets and are a blot on our landscape. It is interesting to note how many of these developments are "projects" backed by the big two real estate agents in Armadale!
We are losing historic buildings at a rapid rate . Make a stand against inappropriate development and retain at least the front of these buildings, please council.
