A recent release stated that this area would not be zoned for unit blocks. I wholeheartedly agree with this as unit blocks in this area will detract from the beautiful character homes that East Toowoomba is well known for. Toowoomba has approved far too many units in recent years and there are multiple units sitting vacant. I don't think it is wise for more units to be built, particularly not in this area as they will be out of place.

This should not be approved. This street has beautiful character homes and there has been too many recent conversions of larger blocks to smaller ones in this area making way for high density living. This will detract from the character of this unique part of Toowoomba and devalue homes in the area. Once considered an area in which it was difficult to gain permission for modifications of the character homes without heritage architect consultation and consideration of streetscape was an appealing aspect for those purchasing character homes. This meant there was a level of protection for the homeowner however now it appears people can build three units on a newly divided block next door. This makes a mockery of the original rules and affects those homeowners who have put emphasis on maintaining the character and heritage of the area. This needs serious consideration.
