There is no parking on either street frontage of this block. The Canoon Road side is occupied by a bus stop, and it would be too dangerous to park on the Kissing Point Road side as is is narrow and on a corner.
Parents dropping off or picking up children will then be forced to park further down Canoon Road, unfairly impacting on neighboring properties.
The impact of this may result in similar problems to the parking and traffic impacts of the Canoon Road netball Centre. Canoon Road residents are already looking at parking and traffic impacts from extending the hours of use of the netball courts. It is unfair to ask us to take even more in a residential street.

Multiple Public access, by car & foot, to this property would be dangerous particularly as the small section of KP rd from the bend at 205 (on same side as development proposal) & 212 (opp side) is a known black-spot for speeding cars, cars cutting the corner then mounting curbs, crashing into resident fences & being a threat to pedestrians using existing footpaths.
Long time residents on KP rd already have issues with access to/from our own properties particularly during netball season & school times with bumper to bumper traffic & congested pedestrian traffic on footpaths & blind-sided parking on the street - we don't need more congestion!

This is an ill advised use of this property. Adding up to an additional 52 cars seeking parking for morning and afternoon drop off in this area will create a traffic nightmare. There is no legal parking on either street frontage to this property or to the opposite sides. The corner preceding This property is an ALready known Black spot for traffic accidents, adding small children and distracted parents will only compound this.
Car regularly park illegally on this stretch of road to service the Villas at (199) mostly outpatients of Lady Davidson Hospital reducing residents visibly and access to their own properties .

This proposal will require constructive thinking to avoid further expansion of existing traffic flows, parking and human safety. Parking restrictions in KPRoad are regularly ignored and Canoon Road is already a single lane road when parking is utilized on either side. The corner, some 75 metres south of proposed development is already an accident known hotspot with many instances of vehicles mounting nature strips and entering properties,

I am writing to to lodge my opposition to DA for the 52 place childcare facility planned for the corner of Kissing Point Rd and Canoon Rd in South Turramurra.

The proposed location is near one of the busiest intersections in South Turramurra and is not an appropriate location for the following reasons:

    1. Already under strain at the nearby intersection due to all the recent housing development in the area.
    2. These are single roads in and out of South Turramurra.
    3. Canoon Rd and Kissing Point Rd are already congested in the mornings and afternoons during school drop off / pick up times.
    4. There is significant bus traffic which enters Canoon Rd from both directions from Kissing Point Rd. The location of this facility will impact bus traffic, the nearby bus stop and all other traffic. There is also a safety issue of cars stopping suddenly to go into the facility and bus driver not stopping in time due to lack of visibility.
    5. There is a lack of adequate parking to service the childcare centre which will encourage dangerous behaviour with child drop offs (either parking on the busy Kissing Point Rd or parking on Canoon Rd and blocking bus traffic.
    6. Pedestrian safety is at risk as there is no footpath on Canoon Rd on the same side of the road as the facility. There is also no pedestrian crossing therefore children will need to cross the busy Kissing Point Rd or Canoon Rd to get to the facility.
    6. The corner location is very busy and would be dangerous for young children.

I realise that there is a need for a more child care facilities, however I believe that the current proposed location in not suitable.

I believe that the comments regarding traffic flow in an already congested area and safety need to be addressed.
I am looking forward to councils response.
